Now is the perfect time to get out and about in Asheville and enjoy all the season has to offer. If you’ve been thinking of making Biltmore Lake your home, there’s no better time to visit us; this is the most beautiful time of the year.

Fall Color in Asheville

Peak fall color is one of the most exciting times to enjoy Biltmore Lake and Asheville, not only can you feast your eyes upon the rich, multicolored landscape from Biltmore Lake, but you can also enjoy stunning drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway, a mere minutes from home. Fall color begins in the middle of October and depending upon your elevation, can last until mid-to-late November. Right now is the perfect time for scenic drives and hikes.

Halloween in Asheville

The beautiful fall leaves aren’t the only decorations in Asheville during October, the area is also elaborately decorated for one of the most celebrated holidays in our area, Halloween.

Halloween is a favorite holiday celebration among many Asheville locals. Whether you have children for trick-or-treating, or want to enjoy a lively bar, pub or club for some great food, beer, live music and outrageous costume contests, there are plenty of options near Biltmore Lake.

Trick or Treating in Asheville

There are two major trick-or-treating spots in Asheville proper: The historic Montford neighborhood and The Asheville Mall.

The historic Montford neighborhood offers a fun, safe and ghoulish environment for your little trick-or-treaters. Many residents take Halloween decorating very seriously. You’ll find houses decorated in frightening fashion, from jack-o-lanterns, witches and ghouls, to scarecrows and spooky lighting. Trick-or-treating will be held on Wednesday, October 31st and the Montford Neighborhood Association will be offering additional security to make sure your wee ones are extra safe.

The Asheville Mall, located on Tunnel Road, will also be hosting a Halloween bash, including trick-or-treating and fun for the whole family!

Adult Fun for Halloween in Asheville

For the kid and adult in you, check out the Haunted Pub Crawl by Haunted Asheville on Saturday, October 27th, 2012. They also offer other fun events, including the Vampire & Occult Tour, the Haunted Asheville Trolley Tour, the Classic Haunted Walking Tour and the Biltmore Village Mystery Tour.

Asheville’s favorite comedy tour bus, LaZoom, offers their Haunted Comedy Bus Tour and you are guaranteed to see a ghost! Enjoy real haunted stories from Asheville, delivered by the masters of comedy.

If a late night Halloween dance party is more your style, visit The Grove House for their 8th annual Haunted Grove House Inferno with a $1000 costume contest and scary monsters to keep you terrified! Tickets are $20 and doors open 9pm October 29th.

Halloween weekend also offers Tressa’s Halloween Bash and Costume Contest, a Halloween dance party and costume contest at Jack of the Wood, and Fright Night Halloween Bash at Pack’s Tavern.
