Asheville Named in Top 10 for TripAdvisor’s 2011 Travelers’ Choice Food and Wine Destination award.

October 31, 2011 (All day)

There's something about Asheville, NC that makes its blend of remote Appalachian charm and cosmopolitan sophistication seem perfectly natural. The city abounds in cultural attractions, events and more. Asheville has been recognized as the “best place to retire,” “best place to catch fall foliage,” and now we are adding a new one to the list.  TripAdvisor®, the world’s largest travel site, has announced the winners of its 2011 Travelers Choice® Food and Wine Destinations awards, and it is no surprise Asheville has made the list, sitting along side cities such as: New York City, San Francisco and Chicago.  TripAdvisors community of millions helped determine the award winning cities.

The culinary scene in Asheville is enough to convince even the most discriminating connoisseur to visit and/or move here. More than seventeen farmers’ markets provide farm-to-table products, many local restaurants work directly with local growers, and the city boasts ten local breweries.

Residents and visitors alike can delight in a wide range of flavors from the traditional and native Appalachian sustenance like apple butter, mountain trout, and artisan cheese to the surprises and intensity found in the foods traditional to Thailand, Spain, France, and more.

When it comes to finding all of the “best of” places in Asheville, don’t forget to count communities among your list. Biltmore Lake tops the local real estate list and offers a lifestyle marked by outdoor recreational amenities, an ideal location, and beautiful, mountain scenery with close proximity to popular shops, restaurants and the famed Blue Ridge Parkway. If you need a serene escape this weekend, spend some time touring our model home, part of The Cottage Collection; it’s also a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this Asheville community.
